Ahmedabad: Case Against Father After Minor Son Seen Riding Bike With ‘Pistol’ in Viral Video

Danilimda Police have registered a case against a 50-year-old man after a viral social media video showed his minor son riding a motorcycle with what appeared to be a pistol tucked into his waistband. Police later found that the suspected firearm was actually a lighter.

Viral Video Leads to Police Probe

According to police, the video showed a person riding a motorcycle from Ambedkar Bridge towards Khodiyarnagar Crossroads, with an object resembling a pistol visible at the back of his waist.
After the video surfaced on social media, police traced the motorcycle using its registration number. The vehicle was found to be registered in the name of Mohammad Dasami Alihasan Sheikh, a resident of Danilimda.

‘Pistol’ Turns Out to Be Lighter

During the investigation, police found that the object seen in the video was not a firearm but a lighter.
However, the probe revealed that the person riding the motorcycle was a minor and did not hold a valid driving licence.
Police said the minor had ridden the motorcycle on September 3 at around 4 pm and was allegedly travelling at high speed towards Khodiyarnagar on a public road. He was also accused of cutting across traffic near the Khodiyarnagar BRTS bus stand.

Father Booked Under Motor Vehicles Act

Police registered a case against Sheikh under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, alleging that he knowingly allowed his minor son, who did not have a driving licence, to ride the motorcycle.
The investigation thus shifted from the apparent presence of a firearm in the viral video to an alleged violation of motor vehicle laws involving a minor rider.
