A businessman from Ahmedabad’s Ghodasar area has alleged that he was cheated of ₹2.86 lakh by the director of a Surat-based IT firm who allegedly failed to deliver functional software under an agreement and later refused to refund the money. Vatva police have registered a case against Darshan Chauhan, director of Durvasa Infotech Pvt. Ltd., following the complaint.
₹3.70 Lakh Agreement for Three Software Systems
Rishik Barot, a resident of Ghodasar who runs E.G.E Agritech Pvt. Ltd., was introduced to Chauhan through a friend. Durvasa Infotech operates from Pragati IT Park in Mota Varachha, Surat, while Chauhan lives at Omkar Avenue in Amroli.
According to the complaint, the two entered into an agreement worth ₹3.70 lakh for developing three software systems for Barot’s company: a dashboard, a marketplace and a delivery driver system. Chauhan allegedly assured Barot that the project would be completed by November 2025.
Demo Delivered Months After Deadline
Barot paid ₹2.86 lakh in instalments towards the project. However, Chauhan provided a demo version only in March 2026, and the software allegedly failed to function properly.
Despite repeated requests to rectify the defects, the problems remained unresolved, the complaint stated.
Barot subsequently cancelled the agreement and sought a refund of the amount paid. Instead of returning the money, Chauhan allegedly threatened him, saying, “You will not get even a single rupee back. We have connections at higher levels; do whatever you can.”
Vatva Police Launch Investigation
Following Barot’s complaint, Vatva police registered a case against Chauhan and began investigating the alleged cheating and threats. Further details of the investigation are awaited.
