Ahmedabad Businessman Alleges Threats To Strip, Abduct And Kill Him Over Dispute

An Ahmedabad businessman has approached Gujarat University police alleging that a man he knew as a former travel agent sent him abusive WhatsApp messages and later threatened to abduct him, assault him and have him killed in Rajasthan.

The complaint was filed by 42-year-old Dinesh Singh Shekhawat, who runs a business from an office at Aatish Annexe near Samarpan Flats in Gulbai Tekra. Police have registered a case following the complaint and begun an investigation.

The alleged incident took place on the evening of August 12 when Shekhawat was at his office along with an employee, Khelendra Singh, and other staff members.

At around 7.45 pm, the accused, identified as Vaishal Shah, allegedly contacted the company’s mobile number from his phone and began sending messages on WhatsApp. According to the complaint, the messages contained abusive language and references to meeting Shekhawat personally in Ahmedabad.

Accused Allegedly Threatened To Abduct Complainant

The complainant told police that at around 7.49 pm, Shah sent a message referring to him by name, followed by further messages at around 7.50 pm and 7.51 pm. In one of the messages, Shah allegedly stated that he was in Udaipur.

Khelendra Singh, who was using the company’s mobile phone, subsequently informed Shekhawat about the messages. The complainant then allegedly contacted Shah to question him about the abusive communication.

The situation allegedly escalated when Shah called Shekhawat’s personal mobile number several times between around 7.59 pm and 8.28 pm.

During the calls, Shah allegedly abused Shekhawat using derogatory references to his mother and sister and threatened to assault him.

Shah allegedly threatened that on August 15 he would strip Shekhawat in Ahmedabad, abduct him and take him to Udaipur. The complainant further alleged that Shah subsequently made a WhatsApp call and threatened to have him killed in Rajasthan.

Complainant Says He Has Known Accused For Five Years

Shekhawat told police that he had known Shah for around five years. According to the complaint, Shah had previously worked as a travel agent in Paldi and came into contact with Shekhawat when he booked his hotel in Udaipur while the complainant was running another business.

The complainant said that, because of their previous acquaintance, Shah’s mobile number was already saved on his phone. He also told police that the company’s mobile number was being used by Khelendra Singh for official work.

Screenshots, Call Recordings Submitted To Police

Police have been provided screenshots of the alleged WhatsApp conversation, while Shekhawat said he would submit recordings of the telephone calls to the investigating officer.

Gujarat University police have registered the case and are expected to examine the WhatsApp messages, call records and any audio recordings submitted by the complainant as part of the investigation.

The allegations are yet to be independently established, and the police investigation is under way.
