Emails threatening 16 locations, including schools, courts and Narendra Modi Stadium, traced to accounts allegedly operated from Rawalpindi; second threat linked to Lahore and Rangpur

Ahmedabad’s Cyber Crime Branch has uncovered suspected links to Pakistan and Bangladesh in a series of bomb threats targeting schools, courts, the Mayor’s Office and the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, among other locations in the city.

Police registered two separate cases after threatening emails named multiple locations across Ahmedabad. Preliminary investigations suggest that compromised Gmail accounts were purchased using cryptocurrency through Telegram and WhatsApp networks and then used to send the threats.

The probe was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner GS Malik and senior police officials.

First Threat Emails Targeted 16 Locations

On the 7th, threatening emails were sent from two Gmail accounts — bonnieebanks49@gmail.com and kwajlds@gmail.com — using the names Denise Long and WJ Ken to create false identities.

The emails contained bomb threats referring to specific timings, including “Time 8:00 AM at Gujarat Schools @11:11AM”, along with Khalistani-related content.

The threats named approximately 16 locations, including 10 schools, the Mayor’s Office, the Gujarat High Court, the court complex in Sola, Metro Court, the District and Sessions Court in Ahmedabad, and the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.

Following the threats, cybercrime teams visited different schools and court complexes and obtained the email headers for technical examination.

Preliminary analysis indicated that the email accounts were associated with Bangladesh and that the accounts used to send the threats had been created or obtained earlier and were operated from Bangladesh and Rawalpindi in Pakistan.

Second Threat Email Named 19 Locations

On October 27, 2026, another threatening email was received from reduak079@gmail.com.

This email referred to 19 locations, including 14 schools, the Mayor’s Office at Danapith, the Gujarat High Court, Metro Court, the Gheekanta court complex, the City Civil Court and the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.

The Cyber Crime Branch registered a second case and sought further technical details as part of the investigation.

According to the preliminary findings, the email’s connections were traced to Rangpur in Bangladesh and Lahore in Pakistan.

Cryptocurrency Used to Buy Compromised Gmail Accounts

A separate investigation into earlier threats issued in the name of a Khalistani organisation led police to an accused arrested in West Bengal.

During questioning, the accused allegedly revealed that he had sold hacked Gmail accounts to a person in Bangladesh. That person subsequently sold the accounts to an individual in Pakistan, with payments reportedly made in cryptocurrency.

Investigators suspect that compromised email accounts are being purchased through Telegram and WhatsApp networks and used to create fear in India, particularly around festivals and major events.

The investigation into the Ahmedabad threats is continuing. The alleged international links and the roles of those involved remain subject to further verification.
