A domestic dispute at a rented house in Ahmedabad’s New Fatewadi turned violent on Thursday afternoon when an 80-year-old man allegedly attacked his 47-year-old elder son with an iron rod, leaving him unconscious with serious facial injuries.

The incident occurred near Anand Ashram on Dholka Road. The injured man, Mangabhai Parmar, was taken to Sola Civil Hospital in a 108 ambulance before doctors referred him to Asarwa Civil Hospital for further treatment.

Son Found Unconscious With Injuries To Face

According to the complaint filed by Mangabhai’s younger brother, Anusang Parmar, 45, he received a phone call while at work from Gauriben Solanki, the landlord’s wife. She allegedly informed him that their father, Babubhai Lakhabhai Parmar, had assaulted Mangabhai and that his elder brother had lost consciousness.

Anusang rushed home but learnt that Mangabhai had already been taken to hospital. He and their mother, Savitaben, 65, then went to the hospital, where they found Mangabhai unconscious, with injuries to his face and blood reportedly coming from his mouth, nose and ears.

Complaint Alleges Attempt To Kill

The complaint alleges that Babubhai attacked Mangabhai with an iron rod during the altercation. Anusang accused his father of attempting to kill his elder brother.

The exact circumstances that led to the argument are being investigated by the police.

Family Had Been Living Together For 10 Months

The family had been living together in a rented house for around 10 months. Babubhai is retired, while Savitaben works in housekeeping and Mangabhai earns a living as a casual labourer. Anusang works as a fitter at a company in the Sanand-Hirapur area.

Sarkhej police have registered a case based on the complaint and initiated an investigation into the incident.
