After Schools, Ahmedabad Metro & Sessions Courts Receive Bomb Threat Emails; Premises Evacuated

The Metro and Sessions courts in Ahmedabad were placed on alert on Thursday after authorities received an email threatening to blow up the court premises, police said.

According to police, the email contained threatening language, mentioned BRICS and specified a time for the alleged bombing. The message also contained references associated with Khalistani terminology, officials said.

Court Premises Evacuated

Following the threat, security agencies were alerted and the Metro and Sessions court complexes were evacuated as a precaution. Police teams, bomb disposal personnel and fire brigade officials reached the premises and launched a detailed search.

Bomb squads, accompanied by sniffer dogs, checked the court buildings and surrounding areas for any suspicious object or explosive material. No suspicious item was found, police said.

Email Being Analysed

Police have launched an investigation to identify the person or persons behind the threat. Officials are examining the email and available technical details to determine its origin.

Police said Ahmedabad courts have received similar bomb threats on previous occasions, but searches in those cases also did not result in the recovery of any explosive material.

DCP Says Threat Taken Seriously

DCP Zone 2 Bharat Rathod said police took the threat seriously and conducted a thorough search of the court premises in coordination with other agencies.

The investigation is underway.

Earlier in the morning, several prominent schools in Ahmedabad, including DPS Bopal, Udgam School for Children in Thaltej and Zydus School in Vejalpur, had also received bomb threat emails, triggering evacuations and extensive searches by police and bomb squads.
