39-Year-Old Man Arrested In Ahmedabad For Allegedly Molesting 17-Year-Old Stepdaughter

A 39-year-old man has been arrested by Chandkheda Police in Ahmedabad for allegedly molesting his 17-year-old stepdaughter over a period of nearly two months. The alleged incidents came to light after the minor confided in her aunt, who informed the girl’s mother, following which a complaint was lodged with the police.

POCSO Case Registered At Chandkheda Police Station

Chandkheda Police registered a case on September 2 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police said the accused had married the girl’s mother in 2017.

According to police, the minor recently told her aunt about the alleged molestation. The aunt then informed her sister, the girl’s mother, who subsequently approached Chandkheda Police Station and filed a complaint.

Police Probe Into Alleged Molestation

Chandkheda Police Inspector J K Makwana said the preliminary investigation indicated that the accused’s behaviour towards the girl had allegedly changed over the past two months.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that everything was normal earlier. However, over the past two months, the accused allegedly began abusing the girl when she was alone at home,” Makwana said.

Police suspect that the alleged incidents took place when the girl was alone at home with the accused. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the allegations and recording statements of the minor, her mother and other people concerned.

Following registration of the case, police arrested the accused and launched a further investigation. Officers are also examining other aspects of the case to establish the sequence of events and collect relevant evidence.

As the alleged victim is a minor, her identity and any details that could lead to her identification have not been disclosed.
