21 Burglaries On Record: Ahmedabad LCB Zone 7 Arrests Habitual Thief, CCTV Footage Surfaces

The Ahmedabad LCB Zone 7 team has arrested a 38-year-old habitual offender in connection with a burglary case in the Sarkhej area. Police identified the accused as Divyang alias Divesh Balwantbhai Rathod, who has reportedly been booked in 21 burglary cases and two prohibition-related offences across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Modasa. CCTV footage allegedly showing the accused stealing has also surfaced.

Accused Detained From Nikol

According to police, the LCB Zone 7 team received specific information while patrolling and detained Rathod, who lives near Dastan Circle in Nikol.

During questioning, police allegedly linked him to a theft case registered at Sarkhej Police Station. The team recovered ₹9,000 in cash from his possession.

Police said Rathod’s alleged accomplice, Hitendra alias Tashan Sindholia, a resident of Shahibaug, is currently absconding. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest him.

21 Burglaries And Two Prohibition Cases

Police said Rathod has previously been detained under the PASA Act three times and has a criminal record spanning several police stations.

Cases have reportedly been registered against him at Odhav, Sardar Nagar, Sola High Court, Krishnanagar, Bodakdev, Naroda, Bapunagar, Ghatlodia, Chandkheda, Vastrapur, Nikol, Anandnagar and DCB police stations in Ahmedabad.

Apart from Ahmedabad, he has also faced legal action in Gandhinagar Sector-1 and Modasa Rural police stations.

Alleged Pattern Of Targeting Closed Houses

According to the police, the accused allegedly targeted locked and unoccupied houses for burglary. He was also allegedly involved in illegal liquor trafficking and other prohibition-related offences.

With his arrest, the LCB Zone 7 team is now investigating his possible involvement in other theft cases and working to trace his absconding associate.

The CCTV footage that surfaced during the investigation is expected to provide further clues about the alleged burglary.
