During preliminary interrogation, Shah allegedly told police that he had earlier worked at a company in Surat, where he became acquainted with Hiren and Shubham Parmar, who are from Rajkot.
About a month ago, Shah allegedly discussed his financial difficulties with Shubham. According to the police, Shubham told him that although he could not provide money directly, he could earn ₹10,000 by carrying out a specific job.
Police allege that Shubham then offered Shah ₹10,000 for each trip to Odisha to collect cannabis and deliver it to Rajkot.
Bus Journey From Odisha Ends In Vatva
According to the investigation so far, Shah travelled to Bhubaneswar in Odisha, where he allegedly collected a suitcase containing cannabis from two persons identified as Dibana Muni and Mukesh.
He then travelled towards Gujarat using different private buses and eventually reached Vatva.
Police said Shah was carrying the suitcase while walking near the Ropda check-post when the surveillance team intercepted him. He was allegedly on his way to continue the journey to Rajkot when the police acted on the tip-off.
The investigation is now focused on tracing the alleged supplier network, identifying the other persons involved and determining how frequently such consignments were transported between Odisha and Gujarat.
