16-Year-Old Critically Injured After Being Thrown Off Scooter On Pirana Road

A 16-year-old boy was critically injured after he was thrown off a moving scooter when its rider allegedly applied the brakes suddenly on Peeplaj-Pirana Road on Friday evening.

The incident took place around 5 pm near Arjun Kata, where Sachin Bhagwanbhai Chauhan, 16, was travelling as a pillion rider on a Burgman scooter. The scooter was allegedly being driven by Abu Bakar Sheikh, a resident of Fatewadi in Sarkhej.

According to the complaint filed by Sachin’s father, Bhagwanbhai Babubhai Chauhan, 42, the family was informed about the accident several hours later.

Around 8.30 pm, a man identified as Kesh Sheikh, the brother of Abu Bakar, who runs a scrap shop opposite Haryana Hotel, allegedly went to the family’s home and informed them that Sachin had been injured in an accident.

Teen Found Unconscious In ICU

The family rushed to LG Hospital, where they found Sachin unconscious and undergoing treatment in the ICU.

He had sustained serious injuries to his head and other parts of his body. Doctors later referred him to Civil Hospital in Asarwa for further treatment.

Scooter Allegedly Travelling At High Speed

Seeking to establish how the accident occurred, Bhagwanbhai and his son Vipul later went to the spot near Arjun Kata.

They spoke to people in the area and were allegedly told that the scooter had been travelling at high speed when the rider suddenly applied the brakes.

The sudden braking allegedly caused the scooter to skid, throwing Sachin off the vehicle. He fell on the road in front of the scooter and suffered severe injuries.

Traffic Police Begin Investigation

K Division Traffic Police have registered a case against Abu Bakar on the basis of the father’s complaint, alleging rash and negligent driving.

Investigators are examining the circumstances of the crash and verifying the sequence of events leading up to the accident, including the manner in which the scooter was being driven.
