13-Year-Old Girl Subjected to Sexual Assault For Months; Cousin Arrested In Changodar

23-year-old man was arrested by Changodar police on Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old cousin repeatedly over four to five months after threatening to defame her.

According to police, the case was registered at Changodar police station on September 24 after the girl’s parents filed a complaint under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Girl Allegedly Threatened By Cousin

Police said the accused and the minor were relatives and knew each other. As per the complaint, the accused allegedly threatened to defame the girl and used the threats to sexually exploit her repeatedly over a period of four to five months.

The girl later told her family about the alleged abuse, following which her parents approached the police and lodged a complaint.

Accused Arrested A Day After FIR

After the case was registered, Changodar police formed teams and began searching for the accused using technical surveillance and human intelligence.

Police said the accused was traced and arrested on September 25, a day after the FIR was registered.

Accused Earlier Held In Murder Case

During the investigation, police also found that the accused had a previous criminal record. He had allegedly been arrested in connection with a murder case registered in the Changodar area in 2025, in which he was accused of assisting in the offence.

He was out on bail in that case when he was arrested in the present case.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Aastha Rana provided details of the police action. Police said further investigation is underway and additional legal proceedings will follow.
