Liquor-Laden Car Intercepted Near Changodar

State Monitoring Cell officials received information that an SUV carrying a large liquor consignment was travelling from Sanathal Circle towards Changodar.

A team kept watch in the area on Friday night and signalled a car travelling from the SP Ring Road towards Sanathal to stop. The driver allegedly sped away, following which the officials chased the vehicle and intercepted it near Changodar.

A search of the car led to the recovery of approximately 1,200 bottles of foreign liquor.

Driver Names Two Changodar Residents

The arrested driver was identified as Altaf Vora, a resident of Chhipanagar in Makarba.

During questioning, Altaf allegedly told investigators that Devendra Darji and Sanjay Chunara, both residents of Changodar, had ordered the liquor consignment.

According to the preliminary investigation, Rajasthan-based alleged bootleggers Prakash Marwadi and Suresh Marwadi had arranged and sent the consignment to Ahmedabad.

Liquor Loaded From Mini-Bus

Investigators reportedly learned that Prakash Marwadi had instructed Altaf to take the car to the Bharkol riverbed. The liquor was allegedly transferred from a mini-bus into the car at the location.

Altaf was then travelling towards Changodar with the consignment. Police said he was allegedly promised ₹35,000 per trip for transporting the liquor.

Further Investigation Underway

The State Monitoring Cell has registered a case in connection with the seizure and arrest.

Investigators are now probing the alleged supply chain, including the role of the Changodar-based men and the Rajasthan-based suspects named during the preliminary questioning.
