Stones pelted at India’s Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi in Bihar, two minors detained

A major security scare unfolded in Bihar’s Gaya district after Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi was targeted in a stone-pelting incident during a public event on Friday evening, as per reports.
The attack reportedly took place in the Khijarsarai area while Manjhi was addressing a gathering at a private school function. According to reports, unidentified miscreants hurled stones toward the stage, with some landing dangerously close to the minister. Fortunately, he escaped unharmed.
The incident triggered panic at the venue, prompting immediate action from the police and administration. Teams from nearby police stations reportedly rushed to the spot, while officials including DSP Surendra Kumar Singh and SDO Keshav Anand questioned two minors who were detained in connection with the attack.
Police said the detained boys have not yet disclosed the motive behind the stone-pelting, and an investigation is currently underway.
Reacting to the incident, Manjhi reportedly said, “I did not see what came and what went. Some people do not want good work to happen, which is why such acts are taking place.”
This is not the first recent attack linked to Manjhi’s family. Last week, HAM MLA Jyoti Devi, also known as Jyoti Manjhi and related to the Union Minister, was allegedly attacked near Gambhira village in Gaya district during a dispute over a vehicle blocking the road. Miscreants reportedly attempted to damage her vehicle, leading to a scuffle with her security personnel.
Earlier, Manjhi had also received open threats through a viral Facebook video containing inflammatory remarks against him. Acting swiftly, the Gaya Cyber Crime Police reportedly arrested the main accused, Rajesh Rao alias Sardar, from Bihar’s Nalanda district within 48 hours of the video surfacing. Authorities are continuing their interrogation in the case.
