Unidentified vehicle runs over 70-year-old security guard on Kankaria Road in Ahmedabad

A security guard was killed in the early hours of Friday after an unidentified vehicle allegedly knocked him down and ran over his head near New Green Market on Khokhra–Kankaria Road in Ahmedabad, police said.
The 70-year-old deceased has been identified as Ramanbhai Dayabhai Parmar, a resident of Himmatlal Bapalal Parmar ni Chali, opposite K K Shastri College in Khokhra. According to officers, Ramanbhai worked as a night-shift security guard at New Green Market.
Police said the incident occurred sometime before 3.12 am on November 14, when Ramanbhai had stepped out to have tea. While he was on the road near Bucheshwar Mahadev ni Chali, an unknown vehicle driver allegedly hit him, causing him to fall. The vehicle’s wheel reportedly ran over his head, causing fatal injuries on the spot.
“He suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot,” a police official said, adding that the body has been sent for post-mortem and further legal procedures are underway.
Khokhra police have begun the process of registering an FIR and are scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the vehicle involved. Officers said efforts are on to trace the driver and ascertain the exact sequence of events.
Police said further investigation is in progress.
