Hit-and-run accidents claim 3,400 lives in Gujarat in last three years

In the last three years, more than 3,400 people have died in hit and run cases in Gujarat and more than 2,700 people have been injured.

A total of 4,860 cases of hit and run have come to light in the state in three years. 3,449 citizens among them lost their lives. Out of which 329 have died in Ahmedabad district alone, and 2,720 people have been seriously injured.

The Gujarat Congress took a serious jibe at the ruling party in this regard, saying, “The increasing cases of hit and run expose the failure and negligence of the state government. In such cases, innocent people lose their lives, but is the BJP government happy with just making statements instead of taking serious action? Even in metropolitan cities like Ahmedabad, the traffic system is weak and the police department has failed to set an example by punishing the culprits severely in hit and run cases. The government is only trying to escape its responsibility by making statements like ‘we will take strict action, we will not let them go’.”
