Fire Breaks out at cake shop basement on Gurukul road, No casualties reported

A fire broke out in the basement of a commercial building near H B Kapadia School on Gurukul Road on Monday morning, prompting a swift response from the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services. No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.

According to fire officials, the Fire Control Room received an emergency call regarding the blaze at 11.17 am. Fire crews were dispatched immediately, with the first vehicle leaving the station at 11.19 am.

The incident occurred at Shantidayal Apartment, where a cake shop is located. Preliminary information suggests that the fire originated in Shop No. 1 situated in the basement of the building, where furniture manufacturing work was reportedly being carried out.

Officials suspect that the blaze may have been triggered by a lamp or flame associated with a temple located within the premises, though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed and remains under investigation.

A total of eight emergency vehicles were deployed to the scene, including one mini fire-fighter, two 20,000-litre water bowsers, one emergency medical team (EMT) vehicle and four first-responder units. Around 33 fire personnel participated in the firefighting operation.

Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control and prevented the flames from spreading to other parts of the building. Authorities confirmed that no one was injured and no deaths were reported.

An assessment of the extent of property damage is underway, while fire officials continue to investigate the precise cause of the incident.
